Music Psychotherapy

Where music, depth & healing come together.

YOU’VE DONE THE WORK. YOU’VE TALKED IT THROUGH. BUT SOMETHING STILL FEELS STUCK.

Maybe...

  • You’re holding tension in your body that won’t let go.

  • Your mind keeps looping, even when you’re trying to rest.

  • You’re longing for something deeper—a sense of connection, expression, or meaning you can’t quite reach.

This isn’t about fixing you. It’s about finding your way back to yourself—gently, creatively, and with support.

Sometimes words can only take us so far. Sometimes healing needs a different way in.

What if therapy could be something you experience, not just something you talk about?

IMAGINE BEING GUIDED BY MUSIC—LETTING SOUND AND IMAGERY LEAD YOU INTO EMOTIONS YOU DIDN’T KNOW WERE WAITING.

Imagine therapy that feels gentle, creative, and fully embodied—a space where your nervous system, emotions, and inner wisdom are all part of the process.

Welcome!

MY NAME IS LEAH WHITMIRE AND I AM A LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR (LMHC) AND BOARD-CERTIFIED MUSIC THERAPIST (MT-BC) WITH SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN GUIDED IMAGERY AND MUSIC (GIM), TRAUMA RESILIENCE MODEL (TRM), AND DEPTH-ORIENTED PSYCHOTHERAPY.

My work bridges clinical therapy, psychoanalytic principles, and music-based consciousness exploration to support deep healing and transformation. I’ve trained extensively in Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), a research-based approach that uses music to access deep emotional states and subconscious imagery.

I incorporate somatic and nervous system-informed approaches, drawing on my training in Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM). My approach draws from depth psychology, exploring unconscious patterns, relationship dynamics, and symbolic meaning. I also bring experience in psychedelic integration, dreamwork, and altered states, grounded in a lifelong passion for consciousness studies and transpersonal healing.

What makes my practice unique is that I place music, imagery, and deep listening at the heart of the therapy—not as an add-on, but as the foundation.

At Integrative Music Psychotherapy, I am passionate about the power of music to facilitate emotional expression, deepen self-awareness, and support healing.

MUSIC-CENTERED THERAPY IS NOT JUST ABOUT TALKING—IT’S ABOUT ALLOWING YOURSELF TO EXPERIENCE THE MUSIC IN A WAY THAT IS CREATIVE, PERSONAL, AND DEEPLY MEANINGFUL.

Because each person’s healing journey is unique, I trust in your inner healing intelligence and follow your process with care. I see my role as a compassionate guide—helping you navigate your inner world through music, imagery, and deep listening. My approach is grounded in ethics, clinical depth, and creative process, bringing care and integrity to every session.

This journey doesn't happen in isolation.

HEALING UNFOLDS IN RELATIONSHIPS, AND I DEEPLY VALUE THE GENUINE CONNECTION I BUILD WITH EACH CLIENT.

Whether we’re working with music psychotherapy, trauma resiliency, or expanded states of consciousness, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and free to explore your experience in a way that feels authentic to you.

My path to this work has always been guided by a deep love of music, a curiosity about the psyche, and a reverence for the mysteries of consciousness. As a musician, dreamer, and somatic explorer, I came to understand that music is more than art—it’s a gateway to emotional depth, transformation, and expanded awareness. This understanding led me to the field of music therapy, where I discovered how sound and imagery could access parts of the psyche that words alone often cannot reach.

"I created Integrative Music Psychotherapy as a space where therapy moves beyond words—drawing on music, depth psychology, and consciousness exploration to support meaningful transformation."

My Approach

MY APPROACH WEAVES TOGETHER EXPERIENTIAL AND PSYCHOANALYTIC METHODS, OFFERING A PROCESS THAT IS BOTH IMMERSIVE AND REFLECTIVE, CREATIVE AND GROUNDED.

As my practice evolves, I’m continuing to deepen my training in psychedelic-assisted therapy and integration. This work feels like a natural extension of the music-based and imaginal approaches I already offer. In non-ordinary states, music becomes more than sound—it becomes a guide, shaping emotional landscapes, evoking memory and imagery, and opening pathways to insight, healing, and transformation.

WHY MUSIC?

Music has always been more than just an art form for me—it’s been a way of feeling, knowing, and healing. As a musician, dreamer, and somatic explorer, I discovered early on that music has the power to reach parts of the psyche that words often can't. It moves through the body, touches the emotions, and opens access to the unconscious in a way that feels natural and deeply human.
